Summary: Fantastic HDTV
Comment: After going back and forth between different HDTV models for about a month, we finally decided to go with this television, the Samsung LN40A550. We could not be any happier. It is missing a few key features that the newer models boast (120Hz, an extra HDMI, Touch of Color, higher contrast ratio, & ability to "seamlessly connect" to many other digital devices), but we decided that most of these features were ones we didn't absolutely need to have, and for about a $500 savings, we have no doubt that we made the right choice.

This television has a myriad of inputs (3 HDMI, Components, Composite, S-Video, VGA). I can't imagine ever running out of inputs, which is a concern I've had with every other television set I've ever owned. The picture quality is fantastic. It doesn't support 120Hz, but after watching it for a week, I don't mind at all. The sound quality is also exceptional, with very little tweaking. Delivery service was great, too.

As far as overall quality goes, I believe this TV to be on par with most of the Sony models out there, for a couple hundred dollars less. We were also impressed with the new Philips line of HDTVs... they also had great picture quality, so check them out, too.

Comment: I ordered this model for Christmas 2008 and have been using it for about 2 weeks now. It is everything I had hoped for; wonderful picture right out of the box. The shipping went flawlessly and was delivered into my house by the shipping company.

Summary: Delivery might be a problem
Comment: Can't imagine that the shipping company (Pilot) hired by Amazon would not try to deliver my TV as earlier as possible; they must have a huge warehouse and do not want it to be empty.

It took about a week for my TV to arrive at the local facility on Tuesday, and the shipping company decided to make the delivery on Saturday (didn't ask my opinion!); they told me that I needed to call them in the morning of Friday to check out whether they can deliver on Friday. I will try.

And a reminder to some customers, this company "Pilot" left a message at my cell phone (I forgot to turn it on since I stayed at home), even I told them to use my home phone as primary contact. They didn't try to call me again. It only strangely seems that they really like to keep my TV longer :-) for free.

Update:
Let me finish the story, even when one comment said that the review should be based on the product, not the shipping. But the product one bought here had to be shipped, I wish I could see more reviews about shipping.

Wednesday: 8:46 AM, the shipping company told me that they could deliver the TV to me in the morning. Too late for me to change schedule.
Friday: I called the company at 9:20 AM and learned that they were going to deliver the TV to me after 11 AM. They could not narrow the delivery time window which was after 11 AM. 11:30AM, I received my TV, a happy ending.

I worried about the glare of the screen, but it is not bad, since my TV doesn't face the windows. I like the TV.

Summary: Great TV, great way to buy one
Comment: We purchased this TV because it was highest rated 40" in Consumer Report. It has been great thus far. I was somewhat worried about buying such a large item on Amazon, but the experience was tremendous. Not only did I get a good price on the TV I wanted, but the delivery was great. They stated it would take 7-14 days, but my TV was delivered in 3 days. They called the day before to confirm delivery time, showed up as promised and set up my TV for me. They told to keep the box just in case there was a problem, but it has been great from day one!
